How did the Tradition begin?
The Lycian Tradition of Wicca originated in San Antonio, TX. Its instigator was Boniface Wolfsong, who built the Tradition as a solitary and with study groups. Our Mysteries come from his inner initiations. The teachings therein were verified to be historically connected to the Wolf Clans, and he spent 4 years writing down the inner teachings in ritual format. The Tradition was formally established in 1989 when he initiated his first student, "Rashal."

What does "Lycian" mean?
It means "wolfish." "Lyc-" comes from the Greek language for "wolf" and "-ian" is the standard English ending meaning "of" or "pertaining to." The Tradition does NOT originate from the region of Lycia. Also to clarify, the Trad does not teach that we are "lycan." Read the essay "Lycian vs Lycan" under the "In More Detail" tab.

Is the Tradition of British Traditional lineage?
No. It is not of Gardnerian lineage, nor British Traditional, and there are some core differences between what is considered "standard" Wicca and our Tradition. They have common roots, but our lineage is separate.

What are the main influences of Lycian Wicca?
The main influences in the technical structuring of the Tradition are the pagan witchcraft practices of Europe, early Wicca and Freemasonry, and their historical interconnections. Shamanic technique and experience play a key role in many aspects of our teachings.
